Just a dusting of new snow overnight. Maybe 1/4 inch.

Sky Tavern will be open this weekend Saturday and Sunday is the plan. There is a little weather coming in early Saturday morning. That just means me getting here at 4 AM to make sure we are good to go. Going to get maybe an inch or two of new snow. Just enough to make the place not look like a melted storm drain in the parking lot. Always check the front page of skytavern.org for the latest call on the day.

It is Sunday's turn to have a great day. It might be Superbowl Sunday, but around here it will just be super. Lots of time to get class in before the game.

Having a Saturday or a Sunday on different weeks is no big deal. It happens every season and it always evens out by the time we give up and go to the beach. Again, there is lots of skiing that is going to happen this year. Lots of turns to be made, classes to pass.

Parking should be less of an issue with Sunday being a great sunny day. I am hoping it all settles down like it does every year and Saturday people and Sunday folks all find their place. We are going to run overflow cars to Winter's Creek parking again if need be. There were maybe 20 cars there last Saturday and I got to meet them all with the Sky Tavern white shuttle bus. We are not going to run the extra bus out of Galena High School. There was a single rider for an entire bus.

Everyone is getting better at parking, but we could use some more help out there early in the morning, please. There are 800 Support members to make this place go. Please help so kids have a better day. Let's help so Mom and Dad don't start the day grumpy because of being stuck in line.

I am not going into the posts from this week in an email. If you want to talk about anything I am not going to shy away from anyone. Until Week 4 or 5, I never get to ski so just find me in the base area, driving the bus, on the deck or in front of Patrol.

Next week is Presidents Weekend, the biggest weekend in snowsports. There is going to be a huge amount happening here at Sky Tavern from races, ski demos, dinner, and the annual torchlight parade. Stand by to hear all about it.
